Several months ago, I had a tremendous eye roll in my spirit. I mentioned it to someone who jokingly responded: “you need deliverance.” I laughed and said, no this is kind of how God is looking at His church, with Hebrews 5:12 in mind…

You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. (NLT)

…I said, He needs us to grow up.

God has so much He wants to give to us, but He’s like the church isn’t even ready…you still need basic, rudimentary, and principle things.

Yet, He’s sticking with us and pushing us forward! I believe a great part of God’s initiative in this time of sudden shifts and acceleration is to make up for misappropriated time. Cooperate with Him in this process.

Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.

Colossians 4:5 NKJV

I didn’t write about this and didn’t even really think about the experience again until today (12.14.16) when “randomly” I was reminded of it along with something that happened last week.

On Tuesday, December 6th, 2016, I slipped back into consciousness from my slumber to catch God “sneaking” a conversation in with my spirit. He’s sooooo funny. I heard myself laughing at His rhetoric, I believe we were discussing maturity levels when He tartly responded something like no everybody isn’t ready for everything.

I jostled myself up enough from this euphoric state, almost drunk in His presence, to jot down what I remembered. Which was a short, choppy statement and three scripture references: Hebrews 5, Hebrews 6, and Romans 5.

How effective is a prophetic word if you never respond to it? How effective is your teaching if your students never progress or even better surpass you? How effective is your relationship with God, if through your experience with Him no one is ever drawn to your light, i.e. His light in you?

Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity…

Hebrews 6:1a NIV

You have been reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ, which now makes having a personal relationship with God a reality, but that’s not all. God’s inviting you to partner with Him. God is inviting you to move forward. God is inviting you on a great adventure…

For some, it’s time to give up what you’ve mastered and grown comfortable with so that you can step into a new place, a new role, or a new position. So that you can move forward, continuing the ministry of reconciliation that Christ established, helping to lead others to God. Giving up the old and accepting the new will not only help you mature but will help someone else reach their maturity.

For others, it’s time to give up what you’ve been hiding and the things that have produced shame in your life. It’s time for you to truly become free, to mature and be delivered, so that you, in turn, can become a deliverer.

For others, it’s time for you to really encounter God. It’s time for you to really experience Him. You’ve seen things and questioned is this real. Some of it isn’t, but some of it is and God wants to show you that.

Wherever you are…

If all these new things are being announced, if new wine is to be poured out, if God is releasing unusual favor, if God is giving gifts to His children, if God is ready to catapult you into your destiny, if God is ready to do all these things and more don’t you think getting into the stream, moving into the flow, pursuing the pathway of where it is, is necessary. Shouldn’t you step into the troubled waters…

Respond by choosing to position yourself today.
