Dr. Matthew Stevenson III opens this message with “I have a warning for you” and what a timely one it is. In a time of accelerated growth and advancement, there lies a snare. This is the tendency to overextend yourself and take on tasks that you haven’t been prepared for.
DO NOT OVERCOMMIT
Some Risks of Overcommitment
- It leads to idolatry.
- It can cause you to miss promotions.
- It displaces your obedience to God.
- It leads to a loss of sensitivity to the things of God.
- It causes you to underproduce or produce subpar work.
- It brings you to a place where God’s grace has not met you.
- It causes you to mismanage, abuse, misuse, and mistreat the grace/anointing on your life.
Here’s How to Respond:
- Evaluate your commitments.
- Watch for Overcommitments
- Clarify Previous Commitments
- Prioritize New Commitments
- Ask God for keen discernment.
Originally aired 9.13.16 as “A Warning for this Season” via Periscope
“If you are in a season of being stretched in one area don’t assume you are being stretched in all areas. If God is stretching you, extending you, and challenging you to be stretched then you better believe He’s going to give you the grace and the favor to meet the demand of the stretching. You’ll know it when you look at your life and when you look at your surroundings and you look at how your life is reacting to your commitments and your commitment levels.”

Perfect timing for the release of this Word. Last weekend I found myself turning down assignments/money from a graphics design clients. I didn’t/don’t have the time. I’m already committed to making God’s vision through MY OWN PASTOR for MY OWN CHURCH successful.
