It’s time to talk to your future self

I love pre-filling my planner with encouraging words and affirmations for the year. I usually start around December.

I love turning the pages to see what encouraging words I left for myself months in advance.

My 2021 planner literally had so many words that I wrote the year before that was relevant to my present.

The right words will find a way to you

It’s insane how the words I need always seem to find their way to the right page on the right day.

I’m not kidding or exaggerating.

Let me tell you how I do this. It’s easy.

Materials

• pens or pencils
• markers
• paper, journal, or planner
• magazine clippings
• stickers
• scissors
• a glue stick

Instructions

Pray and ask God to help you make your prophetic declaration for the year. Ask Him to help you write to your future self. Ask Him to give you encouraging words and guiding words concerning your future.

Then prep your materials. 

📌 If you plan to use magazine clippings like me, get them ready. 

📌 If you plan to write from your heart, then start writing.

📌 If you need a boost, use the word search to find words that encourage and guide you.

You can draw and doodle too. (Yay!)

Start when you have the things you need prepared and ready to go!

There is no perfect creative process

Don’t limit how you’ll sense or express your prophetic declaration.

You may hear a song that inspires you, or maybe a headline will jump out to you.

Maybe you think these steps are too simple, I need a long prayer with fancy words.

My response is this: The more words, the less meaning (Ecclesiastes 6:11).

I’m sharing that to say, don’t get caught up in the ritual of any process.

Do what’s critical to the process (with a pure heart) and advance.

Now let’s pray and start: Lord, help me.

Write, create, repeat

If you don’t sense anything at first, don’t feel pressure.

Continue with your day. At some point, what you need to sense will emerge and echo in your heart.

When that happens, stop and write it down. Create. Then repeat.

Because you should write to your future self on a regular basis.
