CREATE CONTENT FOR YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

Before you create any content (videos, blogs, online courses, classes, podcasts, or whatever), figure out who your target audience is. Ask yourself, who are you serving, and how are you helping them? Then ask yourself what their pain points are? Once you’ve figured that out, create content that solves two to three of your audience’s problems. Working with two or three topics at a time will help you to spot what is working and what is not – fast.

WORK YOUR NICHE

Don’t do something just because everyone else is doing it. Instead, do (1) what you’re good at and (2) what sets you apart. And don’t get it twisted, you can set yourself apart even if you’re doing something you feel is supersaturated or that lots of people are doing. This is how. You make it your own by addressing what others won’t, haven’t, and things that your audience hasn’t thought about yet.

GO DEEPER WITH YOUR TOPICS USING STORIES

I love using stories to connect people to ideas that can change their lives because stories are simple. Not only that, stories are easy to remember and super transformative. Use detailed stories with your topics and get big results.

CREATE CONTENT THAT DELIVERS QUICK POSITIVE RESULTS

Give people something valuable that they can use immediately. Almost everything is available online, so if someone wants the information you have, with some effort, they can find it. Make yourself stand out as a valuable resource by going the extra mile and giving away a freebie that can deliver quick positive results.

TALK ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS IN A FRIENDLY WAY

Talk about your business without talking about your business. Your skill, your experience, and your education is something you worked hard for and can monetize. So talk about it like you would in a conversation with your friends. And I don’t just mean in a friendly way either. I mean friendly, helpful, and bold. Do you shy away from telling your friends something that can help them?

COLLABORATE WITH OTHER EXPERTS

Let’s face it. You don’t know everything, so you may need to let someone else help you with content. When you aren’t the expert, know that it’s okay to sit back and learn with your audience. Your audience will love it, and everyone will be better for it.

BE ACCESSIBLE AND AUTHENTIC

People need you to be human, not perfect. Respond to private messages and emails. Let them into your world, with boundaries of course, but let them in. Choose the personal parts of your life you want to share and do that. Even the ugly stuff, just spin it in a positive way to avoid an impression you didn’t intend. Here’s how you can do it, ‘Hey, family, I’ve had a hard few days, but something cool just happened. I found a journal post I wrote two years ago that really encouraged me. Let me share it with you.’
