The future becomes clearer when you CAN discern spiritual seasons and patterns.

Spiritual seasons are periods of time marked by distinct patterns, themes, and signs that can reveal two main things:

1️⃣ what you should be doing and 2️⃣ what is to come.

Here’s why.

📌 It’s easier to unlock what you can see.

📌 It’s easier to prepare for what you can predict.

📌 It’s easier to plan what you’ve already picked apart.

📌 It’s easier to win in every season when you discern a pattern.

Spiritual seasons mimic nature — spring, summer, fall, and winter.

Each season carries major themes. Meaning the details of the season may vary, but overall, it’s a clear pattern awaiting your discovery.

Let’s start with spring.

Spring is a time of beginnings. A season of fresh starts, new births, and newness on so many levels. Use this time to discover, start, launch, bloom, and give life to something fresh.

Think of spring as your freshman year. You’re a newbie at something significant. So don’t be in a rush to lead when you should be following. Draw strengths from others because you don’t know everything. Don’t try to do everything on your own. Ask qualified people for help. And ask lots of questions—volunteer for experience. Get a mentor. Intern to learn. These things are strength and skill builders. Don’t shy away from them. These things can bring you clarity and the language needed to understand your calling better. And you need clarity because, frankly, details are fuzzy in this season.

Let me explain. Image yourself looking at your future through the bottom of an empty glass. Is what you see clearly visible? No. That’s what spring is like. You can see something, but you cannot make out all that it is.

Use your spring season as a time of discovery. Try new things. Get experience through volunteerism—volunteer to support the leader vs. trying to be the leader. Don’t get so caught up in details. The details will come as you go, and the answers will come with application

Next up is summer.

Summer is a time for brain and brawn. It’s not the season for you to slack or pull back because one thing is for sure: your consistent, continual efforts will pay off. Use this time to focus on growth and development. Prioritize well – this will protect you from burnout.

Think of summer as your sophomore or junior year. You know what you want to do, so focus and get more competitive. Make strides within your industry—niche down. You’ll have time to broaden your influence in the future. For now, focus on getting people to recognize your authority.

Perspective comes in this season. For some people, perspective makes them shrink. But not for you. You won’t shrink. You will shift! You will RISE to the occasion. Because you realize everything big starts small. It starts simple. It starts niche. Yes! The work seems like it won’t end —but realize whatever you do is an investment in your future!

Summer is a time of growth and stretching. So please don’t pile too much onto your plate. Guard your yes. Use your no vigorously. As you gain clarity, focus. Niche down and focus. Prioritize what is meaningful to you more. Your focus and efforts will position you for the future.

Fall is my favorite season.

Fall is a time of rewards. You’ve worked hard. All that energy! All that time! All that focus! All that you invested is coming back to you. Sometimes it comes back as money. Other times it comes back as influence and authority. Then sometimes, it comes back as a favor from other people. Why? Because people have watched and witnessed the work you’ve done. Sometimes with very little.

So step forward and receive your flowers. You deserve it. Stop trying to hide. It is okay to walk confidently in your calling, ability, and success.

Think of fall as your junior and senior years. Excel. Profit. Celebrate yourself. Celebrate where you are. Celebrate where you are going. But stay focused. Enemies and competition are always lurking—especially those friends sending that friendly fire that ain’t friendly.

Don’t forget to help others. Your knowledge, experience, and expertise is valuable. Start looking for someone or someones to mentor, coach, or lead.

Winter is the final chapter.

Last but not least, it’s winter. Winter is a time of endings and rest. A time for you to reflect and reset. Use what you learn in your reflection time to simplify, optimize, and reorganize.

This is also a major time for you to impart all that you are into someone else. So share what you know. Your top-level experience can help others make their dreams a reality too.

Think of winter as your senior year. Things are changing and ending fast. And change can be chaotic, even scary. But trust this, the end of a matter is better than its beginning. And a new beginning is on the other side of where you are now.

Again, impart what you’ve learned. Curate it. Record it. Share it. Mentor. Coach. Give everything you’ve got. The world needs what your experience has afforded you. So please give it to others, leave it all behind with joy, and know that a new beginning awaits you.

Let’s recap and wrap up.

In spring —discover

In summer —do

In fall —reap

In winter —reflect.

Remember, it’s especially okay not to know what you’re doing in spring. In Summer, work hard, and your consistent, continual efforts will pay off. In Fall, break away from the pack, come out of hiding, lead, and benefit from your hard work. In winter, reflect, simplify things, and optimize for the next stage.
