Elevate Your Social Page While Working a 9-to-5

QUESTION FOR YOU.

Ever thought about turning to social media as a side career or even making a career shift?

Or maybe social media is already your side gig and you wanna flip it into a full-time passion project?

Before you say no, because you have no time. 🚫⏰

I get it.

Your time is precious.

But stick with me.

My goal is to show you how to make strategic moves that don’t demand all your precious time. *high fives*

On Social With A Purpose

Does your social page have a WHY — aka a purpose?

At first my page didn’t.

Then I gave it a purpose . . .

And later, I switched my page’s purpose.

In the process, I made lots of mistakes.

So, I wrote this blog to expose my mistakes and share what I learned! 😬

My BIGGEST mistake? Making a big switch too quickly.

Big mistake, bad idea. 😫

My engagement took a nosedive.🛩️💥

That means engagement went from HIGH to LOW.

What Low Engagement Really Means on Social Media

Here’s a simple definition of low engagement…

When you post, it’s crickets instead of chatter.

That means, your posts don’t get much love — NOT many likes, comments, shares, saves, views, or link clicks.

Think about it this way . . . Having low engagement is like throwing a party, but NOT many people show up.

Boost Engagement Without Burning the Midnight Oil

Maybe you’re dealing with low engagement because of time constraints and your 9-to-5 is demanding.

No worries. Below is a 7-Day Social Plan that tells you exactly what to post.

Use it to make strategic moves that make the most of your precious time! Because it ain’t refundable. *smiles* 😆🔗⬇️

Dark Shadows to Clear Engagement

THE PROBLEM WITH LOW ENGAGEMENT . . .

🚫 It casts a shadow over your page.

🚫 And makes you doubt yourself.

🚫 It ALSO makes social networks think your page is NOT interesting or relevant, showing it less often.

Low engagement doesn’t help you spread your message, serve your community, or turn your page into an income source.

Up next, let’s cast the dark shadows away from your page!

THE SOLUTION FOR LOW ENGAGEMENT . . .

Turn up the heat and get more interactions! Because interactions tell the social network, ‘Hey, this page is worth showing to more people!’

To be clear, when a page gets lots of reactions and interactions, the social network (typically) favors the page and shares it more!

Ready to turn things around?

To do that, we need to talk about interactions for a sec.

Social media interactions include things like likes, follows, comments, shares, saves, link clicks, page views, profile visits, how long visitors stay on your social page, video views, and how long viewers watch your videos.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS . . .

You want interactions because they’re like social media currency. You need them to build social capital AND grow online.

Remember, interactions signal to social networks that your content is worth promoting! And that . . .

💥 Helps you reach more people

💥 Helps you serve your community

💥 Helps you turn your casual posts into an income source

The Secret to Social Growth: A Happy Audience

Alright, back to my big mistake.

The verdict: Changing too much on my page too fast wasn’t my smartest move.

And the reason why hit me like a bag of bricks…

The quick switch pushed away the people who were with me from the start—the ones who trusted me and helped me grow online.

Ever heard job hunting is easier when you have a job?

Well, the same goes for growing an audience on social media. The reason why?

A happy audience engages and interacts with your page.

And interactions tell social networks to get you more attention on social media.

(Remember, we talked about that earlier?)

The problem with making drastic changes too fast . . .

The big change can alienate your audience, make them unhappy, and cause them to disengage.

THE LESSON LEARNED . . .

Change is good, but timing is everything!

So, before you hit the switch on your page, ask yourself these THREE questions.

QUESTION ①: HEARTBEAT

Why it Matters. Have you ever wondered why some social media pages stand out while others fade into the background? The secret lies in their heartbeat—that is the message or mission that ignites the creator and, in turn, ignites others. This is what sets you apart and helps people remember you.

So, how do you find your heartbeat? Reflect on what truly ignites you. What’s the core message or mission that drives you? The essence of what drives you is your heartbeat.

Your Turn to Try. Here’s an exercise for you: Grab some blank paper and a pen. Consider what makes you unique in the digital space you’re called to positively impact. Why should people choose your page over another? Write down what sets you apart. Some of what you write will become the backbone of your heartbeat and purpose.

QUESTION ②: COMMUNITY

Why It Matters. Whether it’s comic relief, supporting their personal goals, or providing escapism—knowing who you can help and what you can help them with is how to build a thriving online community. Acknowledging their struggles is how you connect with them, help them feel seen, and build trust.

So, how do you identify your community? Here’s a discovery question to demystify finding your audience. It’s based on something I learned from experience: Your audience often reflects a version of yourself that struggled with something you’re passionate about solving. I repeat. Your audience likely mirrors a version of yourself that once needed support — and sometimes still needs support!

Your Turn to Try. Reflect on some of your early struggles (in your area of expertise). Then, answer this discovery question – when you started [your area of expertise], what struggle did you need help with the most? Use this insight to build a thriving community.

QUESTION : VISUAL IDENTITY

Why it Matters. Visual identity is all about the impression you make, how people see you, recognize you, and what they expect from you. Ever watch an ad and know the brand immediately without an announcement. That’s what I’m talking about.

So, how do you create a visual identity? Identify fonts, symbols, colors, a writing style, and words that represent your heartbeat and purpose.

Your Turn to Try. Create a list of benefit words and use them intentionally in your writing. Benefit words are go-to words that trigger emotions and reactions from your audience – helping you craft a visual identity that echos your heartbeat. Benefit words can also help you find symbols, colors, and fonts that make your social page unforgettable.

Make Every Second Count

In a world where every second counts, you gotta make the most of your precious time!

No, it won’t always be easy.

Yes, it’s difficult to navigate a side-gig and a 9-to-5 . . .

But difficult does NOT mean impossible.

As I wrap up, please remember—engagement is MORE than likes and follows. Engagement is about building community through meaningful interactions and purposeful connections.
