How to Spot a Dream That’s From God (Hint: It’s Not Just About You)

Is it Heaven-sent or Hell-bent?

You have a dream. A vision. An idea.

But is it from God or not?

Here’s one way to find out ASAP ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Quick Story Time!

Remember when God gave Abraham a WILD IDEA?

🙌🏽 God told Abraham, pack your bags and go where I tell you.

🗺️ God had a special plan for Abraham and his descendants.

👣 God wanted to make Abraham a great nation and bless the whole world through him.

PAUSE A SECOND — and just imagine God telling you to leave what you know behind to follow an undisclosed plan. 🤯🤯🤯

😕 I gotta be honest . . . Not sure how I would have reacted!

But I’m so glad Abraham had faith and followed God.

The reason I’m SOOOOO GLAD is because Abraham’s faithful submission to God’s idea unleashed a DIVINE promise that WE can access through faith in Christ (Romans 4:16-17, Galatians 3:29)! 🎉

TO WRAP THIS STORY TIME UP — God’s divine idea for Abraham came with THREE MAJOR PROMISES: A blessing, seed, and land.

🙌🏽🌱🗺️ See Genesis 12:1-3; 13:11-18; 15:1-21 for each promise.

God wants so much for you!

I shared that story to show you that divine dreams and ideas (like the one God gave Abraham) are LOADED with three things:

🙌🏽🌱🗺️ A blessing, seed, and land.

For Abraham, this promise was very LITERAL.

🙌🏽 God promised to make Abraham’s name great and to bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him.

🌱 God promised Abraham many descendants, more than the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore.

🗺️ God promised Abraham land.

Again, for Abraham, this promise was very literal.

But here’s what this promise could look like for you and me!

🙌🏽 The blessing: Divine dreams and ideas should positively impact loads of people. It should SHINE LIGHT on God’s kingdom. Think ripple effect.

🌱 The seed: Divine dreams and ideas should cause growth and multiplication. Again, it’s NOT just for your benefit. Goodness and abundance should flow into everything around you! This is how you attract others and advance God’s plan.

👣 The land: Divine dreams and ideas should cause you to obtain physical territories, digital territories, and influence. It’s NOT a one-and-done type of thing. It’s the legacy you’re building on this Earth. Occupying spaces, places, and positions. A footprint that SCREAMS ‘I was here!’

The Ultimate Test to Know If Your Dreams Are God-Given

Now — let me give you THREE questions to test your dreams, ideas, and vision.

QUESTION ①

How is God’s kingdom leveling up through my dreams and ideas?

God gives you the POWER to push His grand plan (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Just like the BLESSING promise to Abraham, you’re blessed to be a blessing.

QUESTION ②

How are others catching the overflow of goodness from my dreams and ideas?

Jesus said, ‘freely receive, freely give’ (Matthew 10:8b). Your dream isn’t a solo act.

It’s a blockbuster meant to attract and benefit the crowd.

✓ Share the wealth

✓ Spread the knowledge

✓ Introduce others to God

✓ And teach others God’s ways

Just like the SEED promise to Abraham, you’re meant to multiply.

QUESTION ③

How can I pour myself out, drop wisdom, and take ownership?

Jesus left the earth with a legacy. Remember the Great Commission? Make disciples worldwide, baptize them, and teach them what Jesus taught (Matthew 28:18-20).

That means we’re not chilling and passively going through life. We’re ruling and influencing. Just like the land promise to Abraham, you’re meant to take ownership of spaces.

What’s the Verdict? God or Not?
