MEET THE WOMAN THAT DOES THE WORK OF A TEAM BY HERSELF
Hi! It’s me LOLA. I’m the woman that does the work of a team by myself and I talk about it in podcast episode #104…
Which is NOTHING like the norm. It’s very random and I seriously put little thought into my talking points (because it’s SO SIMPLE). Let me explain.
While winding down on some work and following my regular wrap-up routine, I said to myself: My routine is so smart, so strategic, and so helpful to me that there is NO way I can keep it a secret. I have to share my routine.
So I quickly jotted out my thoughts on a sticky note, and here we are.
Four sentences and one sticky later — I’m ready to reveal my secret daily routine that helps me do an entire team’s work.
My secret daily routine is simple but simple can be powerful
At first, I wanted to share these life-altering game-changers with my private group because that’s what we do there. We share tips that help us all succeed. But then something in me was like, nope, share this now. So I opened up a live-streaming service we use, set up the broadcast, and tapped the GO LIVE button.
What happened NEXT was organic and magical. Like unicorn magical. So magical that my husband Dante insisted we repurpose the content into a podcast.

Dante did all the hard work too. He downloaded the video, converted the file to audio, and created an incredible listening experience for you. And that’s just my way of saying he did his thing editing this podcast!
But enough about that. You’re probably ready to hear what my routine is AND why it’s so special?
And here it is.
If you follow my daily routine for 30 consecutive days, you will see positive results in your productivity.
I promise you, and if you know me, you know I never make promises like these.
But I’m making this promise because it’s a routine that I use daily and it works. It genuinely helps me boost my productivity so I can do the work of a team.
Make notes to yourself
I write reminders to myself all the time. When I’m working on a project and I start thinking about something unrelated, I stop what I’m doing to write that thought down. I get it out of my head and record it on paper (or sometimes digitally on my phone).
I do that because I know that when my brain reminds me of something, it’s using energy. And if my brain thinks it’s really important, it will use more energy to keep reminding me — even if I don’t consciously think about it anymore. To help offset that burden, I offload the information by writing it down.
Save your best work hours for you
During my best work hours, I block off time and become totally unavailable to avoid distractions. So we all have our own rhythms and cycles that we work best in — which is why I think it’s good to track your day in a daily log to see what they are. Because I’ve tracked my time, I know when my brain is ready to do its best work. And I do NOT give my GOOD HOURS away easily. I use them for myself.
It may seem unreal but I begin my workday with a closed calendar, my phone set to do not disturb, and my email alerts OFF. Again, because I know when my brain does its best work, I give that time to myself.
Group similar tasks together
I group tasks together to streamline similar processes. I find this makes the work less stressful. So my work is a combination of things. My favorite thing is content writing, creating and editing — but I also design digital content, edit audio, create videos, and much more. I do a lot. And that’s just the creative side. I have an organizational side to my business too. 😳😳
If I try to do all of those different jobs in ONE day, it would be too much. Seriously too much. So I break it down by putting like projects with like projects.
If I need to write emails, I try to do it all on one day. If I’m working on content for a website, then I work on that when I have my intuitive writing hat on (no, the hat is NOT a real thing. LOL).
I also group my design jobs together, so I don’t have to worry about being creative and objective at the same time. Again I do this because pairing similar jobs and projects together reduces my stressors and makes everything I do so much more doable.
Make a jumpstart list
When I stop short of completing a task or project, I make notes about it. Notes that describe: where I left off, what I want to do next, links to important files, and whatever will help me follow-up on it later.
I call this my jumpstart list and like to think of it as startup instructions. I leave these instructions for myself because having a place to start working from is so much better than having to rethink everything.
This is the BEST PART of my daily routine — AND it is NOT exclusively for unfinished projects.
Here’s how you can use it daily too. At the end of your workday, make a priority list for the next day. I know it’s simple, but simple can be powerful. Trust me and try it for 30 days (at minimum). Make your priority list at the close of your day and NOT the beginning. You’ll find that while your peers or people in your industry are trying to set their daily goals, you’ll already be knocking yours out!
That’s it for now—those are four things that help me do the work of a team.
Use them for 30 days and change your work-life.
By the way, there is so much more I want to tell you, so be sure to follow The Smoking Prophet Podcast and join our email list so you can get updates as soon as they come out.
