Plant now, bloom later
My husband and I are learning what financial peace isn’t.
It’s NOT about doing something flashy — it’s about doing something faithful.
✅ It’s saying, ‘not right now,’ even when we could swipe.
✅ It’s choosing the long game, not the quick thrill.
✅ It’s planting now to bloom later.
And yeah, keeping debt low?
That’s freedom future me will be SO thankful for later.

But if I’m honest… 😩 being thankful now is sometimes the problem.
‘Cause waiting weeks or months to buy something I want? Not fun.
Paying cash doesn’t always feel good.
It’s a kind of patience that feels frustrating — counterculture even — in a world that celebrates ‘fast everything.’
So, I’m writing this blog to encourage:
✅ My husband
✅ Myself
✅ And maybe even you
To remind us there’s so much to appreciate about slow wins.

The seeds planted seasons ago 🌱
Sometimes, I see that reminder right outside my window.
Because what’s blooming in my garden
— and my life now — started seasons ago.
Quietly.
Slowly.
Inconspicuously. ☝🏽💜

Beauty + growth live in the slow wins
Beautiful things take time —
Quiet, unseen, unglamorous time…
Built on seeds, deeds, efforts, and care often invested long ago.
When I walk through my garden now, I see that very clearly.
✨ Tiny trees I planted are growing tall.
✨ Flowers are blooming.
✨ Shrubs have filled out.
✨ Paths are whimsical + winding (like I imagined 5+ years ago).
⬆️ All of it came from decisions I made when nothing looked promising. 🤏 That’s a word. And the same patience I’m learning from gardening is shaping how I handle money. Because just like the garden grows with time — financial peace grows with time.
Up next is where the lesson from my garden meets real life—money.

Boring money moves = boss moves💸
Growth in our finances looks a lot like my garden growth at times…
Slow.
Steady.
Sometimes… kinda ugly or boring. 😅
Yeah. It doesn’t always feel good in real time.
Let me show you what I mean 👇🏽
| Boring Money Move | What It Feels Like Now | What It Gives You Later |
|---|---|---|
| Saving money | Missing out, ‘I want it now’ | Peace, more financial choices |
| Buying insurance | Very annoying, ‘I can spend this on something else’ | Security, payouts + protection for unexpected events |
| Saying no for now | Frustration, FOMO | Protects you from over-spending, crashing out in crisis |
| Contributing to retirement | Slow, invisible growth, ‘Money I can’t spend’ | Compounding growth, long-term stability, future security |
| Paying with cash/in full | Isolating, counterculture | Low debt to debt-free life, reduced stress, more stability |
And even though those boring money moves make sense on paper…
The waiting part? Oof. That’s the hardest part.

The weight of waiting
Sharing a glow-up online?
That gets loads of likes.
Sharing a boring money move?
Maybe not so much. 😅
That makes the weight of ‘waiting’ and ‘saying no for now’ feel even heavier.
The TRUTH I gotta remember:
Boring money moves make money — and bring peace.
What’s also true?
Progress is easy to forget when it’s NOT right in front of us.
Sometimes waiting makes me lose hope.
When this happens, I look back into my memories (journals and photos) to SEE my progress.
Looking back at my before-and-after garden photos helps me see it — just like my garden changed one season at a time, so do my finances
That’s how I’m learning to appreciate the slow life…
So, I can continue to plant now and bloom later.
Personal reminder:
When I push through that waiting — I see growth I almost gave up on!!!

Learning to love the slow life
That’s why I’m thankful for the constant reminder building a life with my husband (and gardening) keeps showing me—
Results don’t show up right away.
But they do show up —
in time, with care, and consistency. ❤︎❤︎❤︎
And even though I love a good ‘after’ picture.
The part I don’t see?
That’s where the peace is planted.
The preparation.
The patience.
The layers of care.
So, that settles things for me—
whether it’s in the garden, with our money, or our mindset—
slow wins build strong roots and firm foundations.
That means if you’re doing good work right now and don’t see the fruit yet…
Keep going.
Keep sowing.
Keep saving.
Things are growing, even when we can’t see it yet.
And your quiet work now can bloom into blessings you’ll see later.

A prayer for builders, savers, and slow growers 🙏🏽
Because I know how hard this slow-building can be, here’s a prayer — for myself, for you, for us…
God, thank you for teaching me to wait.
God, help me to make decisions today that I’ll be happy about in the future.
God, break the curse of ‘just enough’ off my family.
God, give me time to build and plant.
God, help me spend with wisdom — NOT because I got played by marketing. ❤︎
And God, when necessary, please save me from myself.
