Ever had this kinda moment…
Everyone’s hype about something (or someone).

But plot twist?
Deep down, you knew the vibe—

You’re quietly thinking…
Idk y’all — something feels off. 🤔🤔  
And can’t shake the feeling that something doesn’t add up.

❌ Maybe it’s a coworker everyone loves. 
❌ A trend blowing up online. 
❌ Or a leader who gets all the applause.

This is where discernment enters the chat.⌨️💬

And the truth we sometimes ignore ⬇️⬇️⬇️

It’s NOT that discernment fails us—it’s that we fail to trust it.

Popularity vs. Discernment

People love group approval. 

Science even has a name for it: social proof.

It’s where we assume what’s popular must be credible.

✅️ Reviews = proof
✅️ Views = proof
✅️ Likes = proof
✅️ Majority opinion = proof

If you sense something different from everyone else? 

🥴 Oof. That’s uncomfortable.
🥴 Awkard.
🥴 Not a good feeling.

So, what do we do?
9 times out of 10…

We quiet our discernment to match the crowd.

The Hidden Pressure to Conform

Here’s an example.

Everyone at work loves your manager. 

👏🏽 They get glowing reviews—left and right.

👏🏽 They’re praised inside and outside the company.

But you?
You notice small red flags. 🚩🤔
Something in you feels unsettled.

Still, you stay quiet. Why?

My opinion ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Because it’s easier to silence that quiet inner nudge,
—when popularity screams ‘credible’ through things like:

➡️ Group opinions,
➡️ Likes,
➡️ And views.

The Real Consequence

Fast-forward…

When they show their true colors,
—it’s SOOO easy to think… 😞😞

➡️ Where was MY discernment?
➡️ Why didn’t I see this?
➡️ Or why didn’t THEY see this?

But you did see it.
You caught small red flags. 🚩
You just didn’t trust it.

Discernment didn’t flop or fail—you silenced it.

You just kept it cute and went along to get along.

Because that’s easier than being the one person not clapping.

Throwing Grace Like Confetti

If you’ve been here before,
please don’t beat yourself up.

Maybe you ignored discernment ’cause standing out felt uncomfortable. I don’t know.

But (TBH) discernment isn’t meant to fit in…

Discernment is meant to guide—
Even when it goes against the grain. 👏🏽👏🏽

Weighing Your Discernment
(When It’s Unpopular 👀)

1️⃣ Pause. Notice that unsettled feeling versus brushing it off.

2️⃣ Question. Ask, ‘Am I ignoring this because nobody else sees it?’

3️⃣ Weigh. You don’t always have to act ASAP, but judge it.

4️⃣ Record. Write it. Pray. Share it with someone wise you trust.

Quick Note: Not every vibe is facts.

That means everything you feel, sense, or see isn’t 100% true.

That’s why we test, weigh, and check in with trusted voices.

And if you have intrusive thoughts or mental health stuff—remember—what you sense is NOT always reality.

Social proof can make something look good.

But discernment helps you see what’s true,
— Even when the truth is NOT trending.
