From Blind Spots to Breakthroughs

WHY IS HELPING ME SO HARD?

I was organizing something for my husband…

I didn’t overthink it.
It didn’t overwhelm me.
I just moved.
And got it done. 🙌🏽

But then I looked at my own pile.
❌ And I felt stuck.
❌ Confused.
❌ Unable to see. 😩

And that’s when a real frustration hit me.

I can do things for other people.
But when it’s my turn—for me?

😩 I sometimes freeze.

SOCIAL CHECK 👀

Not gonna lie… There are days where looking into my own mirror makes me freeze. You ever feel that too?

I know I’m not the only one.
Because I posted about this on social media.
I wrote:

a real frustration…
when i can see + organize things for other people,
— but not for myself. 😖

Many people agreed.
Left comments.
Someone even replied:

And it showed me something big…

Being too close to the problem can be a problem.

I think it’s because it keeps me cuffed to:

① Self-bias ② Mental loads and ③ Clarity gaps.

So, I wanna use this blog to unpack this struggle
—and a question so many of us quietly carry:

👉🏽 Why is it SO hard for me to help me?

THE 3 BLOCKERS 🚧

Blocker # ① Self-bias

→ AKA me being low-key my own hater.
→ I think I know myself so well.
→ But that ‘knowing’ actually blocks me from seeing fresh ideas.

Blocker # ② Mental loads

→ Like carrying 3 backpacks at once.
→ My own stuff just feels heavier.
→ The history, the meaning, the ‘what ifs’ — all of it stacks up, making fresh ideas harder to see.

Blocker # ③ Clarity gaps

→ AKA mental blind spots.
→ For other people, I can zoom out and spot patterns with ease.
→ But for me? Tunnel vision sometimes takes over.

Translation?

It’s not that I can’t figure things out…

I can’t always see my whole self
—the way others might see me.

That’s why outside voices matter.

DON’T GO AT IT ALONE

Outside voices can catch what I miss. 👀

Still, sometimes I fight it.

Because I wanna be:

✅ Heard,
✅ Respected,
✅ And not controlled.

❌ Some outside voices feel like they’re trying to control.

But the truth?

The right outside voices aren’t a threat to independence — they can actually level up my perspective.

I’ve seen this work in real life, time and time again.

🌱 Just recently, I was stuck with some garden plans. One plant had me circling for days. Another— for weeks. And one tree? I’d been second-guessing where to plant it for almost a year. 😩

Then, I asked my husband for help…

And no exaggeration — in less than ten minutes — he told me EXACTLY where to plant all three:

A Weeping Nootka cypress,
Sargent’s Weeping Hemlock,
And a Thunderhead Japanese Pine.

I just stood there like…wow, I need this man.

Because what I couldn’t see for months,
—he saw instantly with ease and clarity.

That’s the POWER of outside voices. They can see what I can’t.

I just have to accept their help.
Many times, I’ll have to ask for it. 🤝
But for that to work → I have to have humility.

WHAT’S HUMILITY, REALLY? ✨

Humility is NOT shrinking yourself.
It’s not ‘being small’ or fake humble either.

Here’s how I’m starting to see humility show up in my real life:

✨ Being self-aware without being self-absorbed.
✨ Admitting when I don’t know and being open to correction.
✨ Staying flexible—willing to unlearn and relearn.
✨ Choosing curiosity over ego.

All in all… Humility is wisdom and strength.

It helps me admit:

I don’t have all the answers about me.
And that’s not a weakness. That’s wisdom.

WHERE I’M LANDING RN

So, here’s what I’m doing right now:

✅ Journaling things out like it’s not my story.
✅ Asking, ‘If this wasn’t me, what would I say?’
✅ Turning to trusted people who can spot what I can’t.
✅ Praying for humility to stay open to fresh ideas.

NOW TO WRAP THIS UP…

We all have clarity gaps.
No matter how self-aware I try to be, there are sides of me (my habits, patterns, even strengths) that I just can’t see by myself.

Humility is required.
It’s not enough that others see those blind spots — I’ve got to be willing to hear it, receive it, and sometimes even ask for help.

Community fills in the gaps.
Being around others gives me a mirror, feedback, and fresh perspective. What I can’t see, they might see quickly.

So, the next time I’m feeling stuck…

❌ With clutter in my home
❌ A project I keep putting off
❌ Or maybe a decision I’ve been circling around

I’m gonna step back because:

→ Some things I’ll figure out by stepping back.

→ Other things I’ll only see when someone else points them out.

I’m learning this in real time, but I truly believe this can help me move from blind spot → to breakthrough.
