TURNING TIMELINES INTO MOOD BOARDS
Staying inspired on Instagram can be tough. Especially lately because, for me, my feed hasn’t been hitting. So more and more, I’ve found myself exploring other options to curate and cultivate a genuinely inspirational timeline. I figure if I’m going to be on social media, I want my experience there to inspire a mood. Kind of like a digital, evergreen, and ever-changing mood board. Which is why I’m on a mission to turn my timelines into mood boards. Are you interested yet? Okay – here’s how I’m doing it.
First, I went to the list of people I follow and made cuts. Before I tell you how I made my cuts, let me tell you what you may see when you go to your ‘Following‘ list.
THINGS YOU MAY SEE ON YOUR FOLLOWING LIST
- First, there’s an option to view the people you interact with the least.
- Next, there’s an option to view the people shown the most in your feed.
- Lastly, it shows the overall list of people you follow.
UNFOLLOWING AND MUTING ACCOUNTS
From there, I unfollowed some people on my ‘Least Interacted With’ list. I unfollowed and muted people on my ‘Most Shown in Feed‘ list. Then, I unfollowed and muted people from the complete list of accounts I follow.
By the way, muting an account on Instagram allows you to continue to follow them but stops you from seeing their posts on your timeline or story. And if you’re wondering if Instagram will notify the muted party, they won’t.
THE MUTE BUTTON WILL SAVE YOUR TL
The mute button is a lifesaver. Here’s what I mean. Sometimes you have friends, family, or other connections that you want to follow, but they don’t necessarily inspire you. With this feature, you can quietly mute them, and get them off your timeline!
FINDING NEW INSPIRATION IS A MUST
To find new accounts to follow, I looked to my Explore Tab first because it’s filled with accounts Instagram thinks I will like and posts with high engagement. Then I ran a standard Google search to find other pages based on themes and topics I enjoy. Finally, I followed some new accounts, then turned post notifications on for them and boom I was finished. FYI: Activating notifications on an account means you’ll receive an alert when they make a new post.
Again, I did this because I genuinely want to be inspired. If you feel the same, stay connected with me to find out how things go! Also, I was hoping you would drop a comment below to let me know what keeps you inspired on social media! Thank you!
