As I awakened this morning, I saw the image of two people sitting in a car.  I observed them from the backseat.  The rearview mirror stood out to me, it was so brightly filled and flooded with light.  I couldn’t see or focus on anything other than that blinding light.

PRESSING ON TOWARD THE GOAL

Until I begin to go into prayer, I thought nothing of what I had seen other than it was strange.

I heard, “God is going to block the past.”

Our past experiences can be helpful, as they remind us of where we’ve come from.  They can be humbling, they can help us through present experiences if we focus on God’s work in our lives and not the actual circumstance.  The past can bring forth positive things.

Yet, some experiences can be so traumatic and painful that the memories do more harm than good.  They can cause us to get stuck – polarized in our emotions – so busy looking back at the memories of old that we can’t move forward or even worst we turn around to go back to those experiences.

Father, I thank you for wiping away every hurt, pain, tear, grief and every trace of bitterness.  Thank you for forgiving us and we choose to forgive others on this day.  I ask that You give us Your Joy on this day, as we move forward in You…we won’t look back!

In Jesus Name, Amen!

Scripture References:

Then the Lord rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of the heavens.  He overthrew, destroyed, and ended those cities, and all the valley and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.  But [Lot’s] wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:24-26 Amplified Bible (AMP)

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection.  But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.  No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
