World AIDS Day, started in 1988, was the first ever global heath day. This initiative is observed annually on December 1st to commemorate the lives of those living with the disease and those that have died as a result of it. The goal is to raise awareness about HIV to move closer towards an AIDS-free generation.

Freshen up your knowledge on HIV/AIDS so that together we can stay educated, raise awareness, and help foster its prevention.

In this message, I talk about Atlanta’s critical diagnosis rate and news reports indicating the issue with HIV/AIDS there is comparable to that of “third world countries.” The state of Georgia has an alarming 1 in 51 diagnosis rate with Atlanta being cast as the “epicenter” of the “epidemic.” You can check your state’s lifetime diagnosis rate here.
